Agosto: Ramaddan

Ieri sera abbiamo parlato a lungo (fino alle 23.15) con i ragazzi, visitando anche le tende, dove ci sono circa sei (giovane) donne, con bambini. Che tristezza, anche se loro sono allegre e molto ospitevole. Per miracolo (era la quinta domenica) era arrivato il cibo, cosi che abbiamo potuto "lavorare" tranquillamente.
Ogni volta che vado alle tende mi stupisco che in uno spazio cosi piccolo possono stare circa venticinque tende, ognuno con almeno 4 ragazzi. E' incredibile (ma come dice Sandra: meglio di niente), come e' incredibile la puzza quando si apre uno dei bagni portatili, eppure vengono puliti ogni giorno, ma ovviamente verso la sera tardi....
Sono MOLTO preoccupata per quello che succedera' il mese di agosto, quando tante organizzazioni di volontariato non possano venire, ed i ragazzi vanno anche parecchi giorni di seguito senza cena, ma tanto di piu' quest'anno, che coincide con il Ramaddan, che e' iniziato proprio oggi. Noi il sabato portiamo sempre qualcosa di freddo che possano consumare dopo il tramonto, ma sono preoccupatissima per gli altri giorni.

Last night we have talked until late (11.15 pm) with the guys, visiting them in the tents, where there are about six (young) women, with children. Sooooo sad, even though they were hospitable and smiling. By miracle (it was the fifth Sunday) the food had arrived, so we could "work" quietly.
Every time I go to the tents I am flabbergasted that in such a small space there can be about twentyfive tents, each with at least 4 guys in them. It is incredible (but as Sandra says: better than nothing), as the smell when one of the doors of the chemical toilets opens is incredible, even though they are cleaned every day, but obviously towards the end of the day....
I am VERY worried about what will happen this month of August, when a lot of volunteer organisations can't come, and the guys often go even several days in a row without dinner, but even more so this year, when it is also Ramaddan, which started today. On Saturdays we prepare something cold that they can eat after sundown, but I am very worried about the other days
